Niko Bellic is the main character and is described by Rockstar as tough. What does the American Dream mean today? For Niko Bellic, fresh off the boat from Europe, it is the hope he can escape his past. Summary: Excellent game marred with a few technical problems
Comment: Nevermind the silly negative reviews, this is a great PC release, and it's worth playing even with the myriad of technical troubles that range from poor performance in top computers to severe crash bugs.
If you can brave those bugs, you'll be rewarded with an excellent experience, a huge amount of things to do and a lot of fun.
BTW, securom is totally transparent and doesn't seem to impair the game at all.

Summary: Lots of good graphics, short on plot
Comment: Each of the GTA games have gotten better with graphics on the PC. GTAIV outdoes all of them on graphics. However, I was a little disappointed that I have finished this game in 3 weeks. GTA San Andreas took me quite a bit longer and it seemed there was more to do. All in all, if you like GTA games and stories, it's a good game with really good graphics!

After all the nonsense with installing, social club registration nonsense, updating nonsense and etc...!!! I finally realized that this game cannot be played no matter what updates I could install!!!
I was soooooooooo dissatisfied with this garbage! I wanted my money back, but unfortunatley the game is already opened and of course you can't return an opened game unless it's unopened, which I wish I most never opened it EVER!!! And worst Gamestop does not accept PC games anymore! So I'm stuck with this garbage!!!! So I wish I could back in time to stop myself from not opening, but to stop myself from even getting high hopes on this rubbish!!!!!! MAN I WISH I COULD!!!!! I just want to get rid of this garbage forever!!!!!!!!!! So everyone!!! GTA fans!!!! open your ears because I won't say it again DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!!! Even if you see it on sale for about 10 dollars or 20!!! Just don't even touch it!!! In fact don't even look at it!!!! or better yet!!!! don't even think about this one!!! The 360 and PS3 one yah!!!! But this one NO!! NO!! NO!!!!!!!

Summary: It's still GTA
Comment: Despite all the poor reviews for the PC version, and the fact that it was not the most succesful port from console to PC (this is Rockstar's first GTA game that was not made originally for PC), it's still a fun game to play, especially if you do not have/like console gaming. I stick purely to PC gaming, and have not been dissapointed by this game. The graphics are great (even on a non-hardcore-gaming machine), and the feel is as Grand Theft Auto as it gets. Here's to hoping that the next one will be coded for PC specifically.

Summary: Immersive on the surface, hollow underneath.
Comment: I will leave out the obvious comments on how buggy this game was. I will, however, address how annoying the Rockstar Social Club is. Ok, not the club itself, but the login. I don't like having to login to play a game. I just want to click the icon and go. I don't want to have to enter my password every time, wait for the Social Club launch screen to load, and then be able to click play. I'm sure there's a hack out there to skip it, I just haven't bothered to find it yet so I'm still annoyed.
As to the subject line of this review, it's fairly simple. I found myself enamored of the GTA IV world at first. While not nearly as large as the GTA III: SA world, it appeared to be close simply due to how compact the city is. My disappointment settled in when I realized how little interactivity there was. Now, maybe I've just glorified the last full release in the series, but I feel like I could pop in to any corner of the San Andreas map and would find not only something weird, but something to do. At the top of the mountain, there's a parachute. Jump off. Or a mountain bike, ride down. Etc, etc. I just don't feel this at all in GTA IV. As soon as I could, I made my way to the Statue of Liberty island... There was nothing to do there. I couldn't even go to the top of the statue.
Storywise, it is of course great. I'm also enjoying the "girlfriend" feature a bit more, though the "can I come inside" part is a bit over the top. The car handling is much better than in previous releases. I don't know how I feel about the "flying through the windshield" feature yet. Sure, it's a bit truer to life, but how many times does Niko have to fly through a windshield to belt up?
