Editorial Reviews:

An all-time classic board game, Monopoly, is transformed in an edition for the Wii with more features added to this addictive game of real estate millions. They've only made it faster, better, and realistic. This all-new digital gaming edition brings a party twist to the classic Monopoly board game. It features up to 4-player simultaneous play, ensuring that everyone is engaged and allowing the whole family to get involved in the fun and play together. Faster gameplay eliminates downtime freeing up players to wheel and deal their way through some of the most recognizable cities and landmarks from around the world. Families can fill up their passports as they try to unlock new and never-before-seen game boards or challenge each other to fun interactive mini-games like breaking out of the jail cell and running away with all the loot. Play in offline single or multi-player mode and compete to own it all and win!
This interactive edition of Monopoly features smooth 3D graphics, expressive animations, and ten stylized game boards with themes such as jungle, arctic, and future. The game's World Edition game boards are based on real-life world capital cities, and bonuses are unlocked as players fill up their virtual passports by playing in each one. For fans of the original, all classic rules apply in the original mode of play. The 2008 edition also introduces a "Richest" mode, which is a more fast-paced, party-game styled approach to Monopoly. Players compete in mini-games to earn dice rolls. Dice roles determine the number of properties the player is dealt each turn. The player takes possession of any unclaimed properties that are dealt, but pays rent on any properties that are owned by another.

Summary: The board game without the hassle
Comment: I rented this recently and will likely purchase. As far as gameplay, I found it to be just like the board game without the hassle of keeping up with the money and all the pieces.

Some have complained about the constantly playing music. It did not bother me, but I see where it could be annoying for some. They could have at least come up with a couple different tunes. I just opted to turn the TV down to a low volume. I can also see where some folks complained about visibility on smaller TVs. I played this on a 42". Text was small but readable. It would likely be hard to see on small TVs, especially if your vision is not the best.

I played the traditional game, so I can't speak for the other gameplay options. In the end, I like Monopoly but always found it aggravating to keep up with everything. The Wii version eliminates all of that. If you like Monopoly, have a decent size TV, and can put up with the music (or turn the TV down), then you should like this game.

Summary: horrible
Comment: Okay, first i want to point out that I'm a kid! And I played this game.
I couldn't see a damn thing on the board! It was a 2D board that was poorly drawn and gave me headaches to try to read the street names.
You have to unlock the mini-games, which is very stupid if you ask me! Monopoly doesn't even have mini games.
The computers cheat! The only way that cheating on this game is fun is when you're playing the board game with your friends or family and they cheat; atleast that way you can get a good laugh out of it!
The repetivness of this game is annoyingly irritating! The music is bad, BAD! And the repeating lines bore and annoy me.
All in all, don't waste your money on this game! Go through your closets and find the gameboard; sure, you'll have to set it up and put it away but it is worth it in the end.

Summary: Wii Monopoly -- electronic gaming at its best
Comment: I love the Wii Monopoly game. I feel the classic board, the World Edition board, as well as the boards that are unlocked are awesome. I have unlocked the future board and the sweet board so far, and love both.

I was hoping to get this for Christmas, and I did. It is far more than I had expected. I love the multiple boards and Mister Monopoly vocally hosting each game.

If you're as into Wii games as I am, love Monopoly, or both, get your hands on this classic version before it's gone for good.

Summary: Great for Monopoly Fans - with only a few drawbacks
Comment: Short version: Based on what some of the other reviewers have said, if you have a game system other than Wii you might want to explore their versions. But if you don't, then I'd say this is still a great game to get if you are a lover of Monopoly.

Long version: I have to agree with those who posted about some of the issues with the game. But still, overall our family absolutally loves it! Okay, at least 2 out of the 4 of us do - but the other two don't count because they don't care for Monopoly anway. Yes, I'd love to be able to skip through some of the graphics faster, have more control over some of the rules and a little more "pizzaz". But some of the graphics are bypassable by pressing B. And it's the players more than any "pizzaz" that really make the game - all the changing alliances and strategies. I will also admit to having what we call the "Ultimate Gaming TV" - a whopping 60 incher.

My son and I have been playing this game for the majority of every day since he got it for Xmas. He's obsessed with unlocking the different boards (There's not alot of them). I'm enjoying playing it without worrying about the board and pieces. No trouble stopping for the night! But I think what we enjoy the most is the ability to have the two of us play and then have the computer control the other two players. We spend alot of time figuring out how to trounce them.
