Editorial Reviews:

The Wii Classic Controller recreates the classic Nintendo format you've been using for years now. For gamers who don't feel comfortable with the new Nunchaku or Wiimote controls, this is a familiar and comfortable alternative. Features include:

Summary: Please Don't Buy
Comment: I need to start off by saying that this is a review of the controller only and not the seller of it.

This Wii controller is based on a good premise, but it is plagued with design flaws. First the two thumb sticks are way too close together. A lot of the times I find myself smashing my thumbs together when they meet in the middle. The 4 buttons on the side are spaced awkwardly. The two horizontal buttons are further apart than the two vertical buttons are and this makes rapid presses between the four of them harder to get used to (not that it is impossible). The large trigger buttons at the top are the most functional/best thing on the controller. The resistance is good and it "clicks" smoothly. But the smaller trigger buttons on the inside are nothing short of terrible. The button press (or trigger pull) is far too long. It isn't even a variable button either it is just a toggle button, so it doesn't even matter if you pull it just slightly, because it only sends a signal when it is completely pressed down. I can't even explain the final button on the top middle part of the controller. It is absolutely useless. The far most annoying thing about this controller is the total lack of ergonomics. With Microsoft coming out with some of the most comfortable controllers, why is it that Nintendo felt that they should take a step in the opposite direction and actually make a controller that is comparable to the first controllers ever? The controller has a weak plastic feel and it is uncomfortable to play for extended periods of time (a carpal tunnel syndrome warning should be printed on the controller).

Take this seriously: if you need/want a 'standard-style' controller for your Wii then just go with the previous Game Cube controller. It was a far better design and is even cheaper to buy than this newer (yet older design) model. It also works on the Nintendo Wii with no upgrade or parts necessary. Stay away from this controller!

Summary: Owner of both Classic and Wavebird Controllers!
Comment: I do own both the classic and wavebird controllers. I can see where people would not like the classic controller, but here is the thing. I enjoy playing older games via Virtual Console and the classic works great. NES and SNES games are a perfect fit. N64 can be a little iffy compared to the Wavebird. Basically ask yourself this. Do I enjoy playing 2D games? If the answer is yes this is a must buy. The recent release of Mega Man 9 has kept this controller in my hand constantly. The D-Pad is the Nintendo perfect and the button layout is comfortable. The cheap price is also a plus. Sure the cord is a little anoying, but your not sitting 5 feet away from your tv like back when we used to play the NES.

Summary: An Affordable Convenient Controller That Works Great
Comment: After I got My Nintendo Wii I started downloading virtual games from the wii shop channel but the only problem was some of the older games didn't seem to work to well with the remote buttons or the gamecube controller. Than I saw this and for the price I decided to try it out and I am both ecstatic and satisfied at how well it plays. The controller hooks into the wii remote where the nun-chunks usually connect to and the response time is great just like the wire-less Xbox 360 controller there's no lagging on the button commands. You'll not need the controller to much with the old Nintendo games but more with the Super Nintendo, Sega, and N64 games instead. The one thing I also like about this controller is that it's small and easy to hold and while it might feel delicate it is pretty durable so don't worry to much about button mashing during game play. So if you're like me and are downloading a lot of the old games I say this is the perfect controller to play those games with.

Summary: sucks, not same buttons
Comment: not same buttons as n64, so pretty lame.

I was really hoping to play some ocarina of time on it.
