Summary: Legend of Zelda
Comment: I use to play this game when I was kid. I never turned the game over and decided to give it another try about 20 years later. The game is just what I remembered and I love it. My kids can't imagine why I love the game so much, but it just helps me relax. As before, hours and hours can go by when playing the game. This game is for the older gamers that don't need the special features of today's games. The game is very hard to find new, however, I've found that used ones are just as good once they are cleaned and taken care of.

Summary: One of the most influential games, ever
Comment: This is hands-down one of the best video games, ever. This was actually one of the first games I got and I remember it being completely engrossing. Going back to it years later its easy for me to say to myself "this will be easy" - but it's definitely not. You need to devote a great deal of time to this game to make it worthwhile but its always worth it.

Summary: The First True Legend
Comment: (Note:This is the gamecube version)This was released in 1987,a full 21 years ago.All that time and it still appeals.The Legend of Zelda launched the RPG genre in games.The story is rather simple though.Link,a young boy,has to save Princess Zelda,who has been kidnapped by Ganon.The graphics are not that great now,but that does not take any fun out of gameplay.The dungeons are very easy to beat,though it is almost impossible to beat them without losing a life.Overall this is one Zelda title that will always be remembered as a true legend .Buy it.You will love it.

Summary: I actually like Zelda 2 better
Comment: You better have a map handy when playing this game. Its quite complicated. But the thing is, if you've already played A Link to the Past, this game hasn't much more to offer. Perhaps the only thing it has that's not in the SNES version is the feature where you're forced to pay for door repairs if you blow up certain cave walls.

Zelda 1 is basically the prototype for A Link to the Past. That's why I like the 2nd Zelda better. Because it's actually a different game from the 1st and 3rd Zelda. Zelda 1 and 3 have pretty much the exact same gameplay except 3 is a massive improvement in terms of characters and graphics.

Still, its nice to play this game again 20 years later, see the dragon in the first dungeon, and say, "Hey, I remember that guy."

I beat the first quest of the game, but I didn't feel like doing another quest all over again. Especially when the only difference is in difficulty level and where items are placed.

The first 2 Zeldas aren't bad for classic games, but I think I'd only classify A Link to the Past as a must-play. Zelda 1 is so bland in comparison.

8/12/07 - Finally I finished the second quest. Its quite a bit more difficult than the first quest. I didn't realize that although the map of Hyrule looks the same, the dungeons are completely different in look as well as item placement. Throughout the second quest I always seemed short on money, and I kept getting my sword stolen by those orange sparkle things. Let me emphasize that you REALLY need a map for this second quest because darn near all the dungeons are completely hidden in places you would never guess in a million years.

This game was long as heck for a game made in 1986. Contrary to my earlier remarks, I would definitely recommend going through the second quest after you've beaten the first because the dungeons are much more challenging. Great replay value. Definitely an adventure.

Summary: Don't expect the internal memory to work
Comment: Zelda's a great game, but it's old, and the Save Game feature relies on an internal lithium battery. After 22 years or so, I doubt there are many left with working batteries, and they're soldered onto the board so even a skilled electronics person would have a hard time replacing the battery without rendering the cartridge unplayable. Let's be honest, most NES cartridges are barely playable to begin with. I remember even when NES was new, you often had to try to start the game dozens and dozens of times before it would work. So trying to conduct any operations on a cartridge is almost sure to kill it. Zelda is a long game, so unless you have no plans for the next two weeks, you'll find it very frustrating to have to start over every time you turn the game on. You could just leave the game on indefinitely and just pause it when you need to eat, sleep, work, watch tv, etc... but that's risky too because if your kitty so much as brushes up against the cartridge bay, it'll glitch out and your hours of labor will be for naught. So keep this in mind when buying any ancient NES or SNES games with internal memories.
