Editorial Reviews:

Lara Croft makes her Dreamcast debut in Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, a must-have title for fans of the busty heroine's PlayStation exploits. Featuring high-resolution graphics that rival those of the PC version, this visual masterpiece sports a "fleshed-out" Lara in addition to lighting and water effects that make its 3-D environments seem all the more realistic.

Beneath the surface, Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation is pretty much the same old Tomb Raider action-adventure formula, with gameplay consisting of exploration, combat, and puzzle solving. (Which is not necessarily a bad thing, as most Tomb Raider fans just can't seem to get enough.) However, gamers do get to play as "young" Lara Croft for the first time, and the gallery mode rewards players with pictures of Lara as they progress through the game.

Unfortunately, advancing in Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation can be quite frustrating at times, as the controls--which utilize all the functions of the Dreamcast controller--are not only awkward, but also lack the responsiveness that some of the game's challenges require. --Joe Hon

Pros:

  • Enhanced graphics rival those of the PC version
  • Ability to play as young Lara Croft
  • Gallery feature a definite plus for fans
Cons:
  • Poor controls

Summary: The Best One To Me
Comment: The 4th addition (or fifth if you count The Lost Artifact) is one of the better ones and comes in second to the fantastic Tomb Raider 2. The gameplay is interesting.

In this game, you are in Egypt and going through tombs and pyramids and such. The first level is a training level when Lara is like 16 or something of that nature. Features:

The most intriguing thing about this game is the ability to pass between the same stages more than once in order to get to another stage. The game offers a great challenge and the graphics are very good. There are minimal glitches. The storyline is incredible. The ending is a great one, also.

Summary: Pretty Good
Comment: Well, to begin, i liked the thought of actually being Laura Croft. I mean, how exciting?! But, really hard. I got like past 2 or 3 levels and found myself really, inexpressibly stuck. I was like, WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NEXT?! So, away went that game for quite a while and i have yet to get back to it for fear of losing absolute faith in myself to play a game and actually win.

Summary: Tomb Raiders best
Comment: This is one of EIDOS best games! It is a really fun game but the training level is really hard. Once done with the traning level it gets much better!! the worst part is dying, but once you start the game its hard to put down!!! This is a great game

Summary: A good video game concept wrecked by its horrible controls
Comment: When we were shopping for video games, one guy at the store recommended "Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation" saying that it was one of his favorite games. So we immediately purchased this game, in hopes it was another fighting game with jaw-dropping graphics. When we slipped the disc in, I started playing, and it got overly frustrating. The controls are the most annoying part, and Lara's father can't even repeat his directions. I can only pass four of the training levels and that's it! The worst part about it is losing health underwater and starting all over again. The game is challenging, but it is way too hard to master.
